Fight A Starting Depression
Depression is a serious psychological problem. It needs to be dealt with in a proper and efficient manner before it grows into a massive problem. Depression is a condition when a person starts feeling sad, guilty, and numb or other such negative emotions. People who are depressed slowly lose interest in what is going around them, feel alone at all times including when they are surrounded by friends and cry frequently.
Other physical symptoms of depression are fatigue, sleep deprivation, and change in the eating habit. Some of the people also suffer from severe headaches. Physiological symptoms are people turning pessimistic. Most of their thoughts are negative and they feel sad and hopeless at all times. They suffer from lack of concentration and low self esteem. Some people also consider committing suicide. People who are depressed can’t do normal day to day activities. They end up separating themselves from everyone else and become very inactive. These are some of the symptoms but not all patients show all the symptoms.
There are loads of reasons why a person can go into depression. Usually there is more than one reason for a person to get depressed. The causes can be death of a loved one, unemployment or any other painful event that might have transpired in the patient’s life. People are seen trying to fight this depression by drinking excessively or they become very irritable. There are ways in which a person can fight depression.
It has been seen that physical activity is often helpful. Even 15 to 20 minutes of exercise like walking, cycling, swimming, jogging can be beneficial. Activities like this makes a person who is depressed less tired. People who are depressed need to find something that they are interested in. this helps in keeping the negative thought at bay and bring some amount of satisfaction. Some creative activity like painting, sketching, sculpting, writing etc may help them to express themselves more productively and hence make them feel better.
Talking and communicating helps a lot. People who are depressed need to talk to someone. They need to tell the other person about what they are feeling. Someone who can help in solving the problem and help in reducing the stress level. Some people are not comfortable talking to friends and hence they can go and talk to a shrink. People should not resort to drinking. Taking medication or other illegal drugs can be harmful too and should be avoided. These may give some temporary relief but causes more harm in the long run. Eating properly often helps in reducing fatigue and can help the body to recover faster.
The most important thing a person needs to do is stop thinking negatively. Whenever a person thinks a negative thought it should be dealt with in a better way. It needs to be fought and sorted out. Generally people have negative thoughts when they are in a sad mood. People should try keeping themselves happy and in a good mood. Keeping a diary often helps in sorting out the issue. People need to focus on the good more than on the bad. People who are seriously depressed need to seek the help of a counselor.
